This year 22 boats from 7 different countries gathered for a competition on Chesapeake Bay on the US East Coast, organized by the well-known American magazine Cruising World. The aim of the event: to elect the best cruising boat of the year for 2020, in different categories. The choice of the best boat was defined according to several criteria: its cruising performance, its interior layout as well as its level of equipment for coastal and offshore sailing.
For this event, the Excess 12 was nominated in the category of cruising multihulls under 40 feet.
In strong winds, big gusts and torrential rain, this boat, with her unique lines and sailing qualities, managed to stand out from the crowd. As one of the only catamarans to brave the elements in 25 to 40 knot winds, the Excess 12 impressed the jury and achieved a winning performance.
This sporty catamaran won her very first competition and was awarded the "Boat of the Year 2020".
