OWNERS STORIES: HIROSHI H. - ARC 2024

Hiroshi Hamada, a member of the Excess Tribe, shares his experience with our brand. His dynamic journey, from buying his first Excess 11 to realizing his dream of a transatlantic crossing with the Excess 15, perfectly illustrates the brand's philosophy.

Hiroshi enthusiastically recounts his adventure:

"In May 2023, my dream came true. The new Excess 15, named Horizon Discovery, was delivered to me at the CNB shipyard in Bordeaux." His journey took him from Bordeaux to the Mediterranean Sea, then across the Atlantic during the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), totaling nearly 20,000 nautical miles.

During the ARC 2024, his Excess 15 excelled in performance:

"We sailed faster than all the other cruising catamarans and most monohull sailboats. With a fully deployed mainsail and a Code Zero, our maximum speed over ground (SOG) was 15.6 knots on a downwind course."

The Unique Advantages of Excess

  • A lower center of gravity and a larger sail area

  • Improved comfort and increased safety

  • Superior performance

  • A twin aft helm station providing better connection with the crew

"Excess boats are sporty catamarans that successfully combine the best aspects of performance and cruising catamarans," summarizes Hiroshi.

The Excess Spirit

Beyond the technical qualities, Hiroshi highlights the brand's customer approach:

"I want to emphasize that the people working for Excess are super friendly, customer-oriented, and excellent at receiving feedback."

This unique combination of nautical performance and human relationships defines what Hiroshi calls "The Excess Experience," an adventure that continually reinvents itself through the brand's ongoing commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
